Oliver Schories unleashes his considerable studio knowhow on Till Krüger’s classic 2011 ‘Deciduous’ with an update from Krüger himself. Till Krüger broke onto the scene back in 2011 with a series of releases on 200 Records. A student living in Stuttgart at the time, his music was quickly championed by Sven Vath and Larent Garnier. Decidedly a European take on the Detroit techno aesthetic, Krüger progressed up the ranks with pace, signing with Treibstoff, Bulletdodge and Biotop. In original form, airy pads and snappy percussion form the framework on which the many chord-based lead works its magic. At a time when minimalism was de rigueur, Krüger shows an immense amount of soulfulness and care with his productions; ‘Deciduous’ is mystical and mesmerising. Krüger also turns in a tough re-edit with disco-y feels and crunchy drums and 10 year anniversary update which stays true to his original vision, while showcasing his love for the melodic side of Techno. Back in 2017, Oliver Schories chose ‘Deciduous’ for his NuBreed CD 2 mix. It’s a personal favourite, and a huge honour for him to have the opportunity to add his own stamp. Keeping the vibe deep and rolling, sparkling arps playfully melt away on the periphery. Orchestral pads fill the centre ground as the main motif, reimagined as a softened saw-tooth pad growls majestically towards the main break: An oasis of calm. The drop powers forward with nuanced melodics chiming away in the far ground. An update of considerable class and sophistication, that further highlights the studio abilities of one of Germany’s unsung dance music heroes.
