by Richard Foss Out of the Trees is an LP re-release of two hard-to-find EPs, Huremics and Vibrating Air, though the latter was remixed in a way that changes it considerably from the original. The Dif Juz characteristics of complex, highly textured, and beautifully arranged instrumental pieces are all at their peak here. Like all Dif Juz projects, the virtuosity of the individual players is stunning, but no individual instrument protrudes above the mix. The incredible variety of sonic details in these jazzy, upbeat tracks makes this an album to be savored and rediscovered, a classic from an enigmatic but engrossing band. [Note: This album was reissued on CD as Soundpool, with what appears to be a slightly different mix on the Huremics tracks.]
