I've been a writer all my adult life--magazines, newspapers, novels and music. Just when I think I've said everything I have to say, a new tune pops into my head. I started playing guitar and singing folk songs in college, then got hooked on bluegrass and Southern Appalachian Mountain music. Then I moved into what I'd now call "vintage" country. I play in a band called Earth, Wind & Fiber--we play mostly bluegrass/country plus some older tunes from the '40s and '50s. We play gratis gigs in old folks' homes around the desert in southern California. We like to say we receive lots of rousing sitting ovations. I've done six albums. My most recent, "Cliff McGoon Greatest Hits," contains 15 originals and represents the arc of my songwriting life--at least so far.. .
