简介
Midnight Blue is the latest release from London based singer/songwriter Joanna Law, and collaboration with long time writing partner, producer and musician Ross Anderson. Midnight Blue is first and foremost a song for lovers and dreamers, for those who are happy to take life at an easy pace, their own pace. It is a song for all those who love music, who make it, play it and live for it. Joanna's material, as always, draws from the influences she adores: jazz, soul, reggae and blues. She floats between genres, with a deep respect for the musical cultures she was born into. Joanna recorded and released her first song 'Love is Not Enough' in 1987, through Chrysalis records. Along with her brother Simon Law, it was the start of a busy decade making music. In 1990 Joanna released a version of 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' through Easy Street Records, NYC, which was embraced by many the globe over. Her version was an underground smash, but it wasn't until 1996 when Way Out West sampled parts of the A cappella vocal to form 'The Gift', that Joanna made an appearance on Top of the Pops as the tune reached number 17 in the UK National Chart. During this time Joanna also released a number of jazz/hip hop white labels and was also guest vocalist for the very wonderful Pressure Drop. Her voice graced the Top 20 charts three more times with trance producers The Space Brothers and Joanna toured the UK and Europe with these in 1997-8. Her last solo release was in 2001 with Recreation Records, shortly after the birth of her first child. Skip to 2012 and through the wonder and strangeness that is social networking, Joanna has ignited and rekindled some beautiful musical friendships and listened to so much magnificent music over the past 5 years she has felt inspired to write, record and perform once more.
