简介
Born and raised in the gritty streets of Baltimore City which has been showcased on HBO's "The Wire" and "Homicide: Life on the Streets", Travis Davon AKA “Bossman” was able to put a positive spin on the negative light that his city had been placed in. Crafting and selling his hit mix tapes would give birth to Baltimore's street anthem "O" and the hit singles "I Did It" and "Off da Record". Since his initial releases, Travis has amassed a catalog of mix tapes selling over 30,000 units in the streets and in Mom & Pop locations throughout the District of Columbia and beyond. The independent release of Travis’s “Law and Order” album in 2004 sold over 10,000 copies alone according to an impressive Soundscan report. This awesome showing of talent and skill could possibly explain the instantaneous meeting and signing of Bossman to a 1.5 million dollar deal with Jermaine Dupri in 2005. Although this relationship would not last long, it did lead to placement of his hit single “Handclap” produced by Platinum Producer “Rockwilder” on NBA Live 2007 and the opportunity to work with hit producers No ID, Scott Storch, Kwame, Clinton Sparks and of course Mr. Jermaine Dupri himself. After Virgin Records folded in 2006, Bossman released another independent hit entitled “Break Me Off” which sored up the charts in the DMV and landed him a deal with “Myspace/Interscope Records” as well as a publishing deal with NottingHill Universal Publishing Company. This relationship would also be short lived, but allowed the opportunity of a remix of “Break Me Off” which featured hip-hop artists Gucci Mane, Jim Jones and Grammy nominated R&B artist Raheem DeVaughn. After the demise of the relationship with Myspace Records, Bossman would release yet another independent offering entitled “The Re-Up” that sold over 5,000 records according to Soundscan reports. Two songs from the album, “O.M.G” and “I’m Where It’s At” were featured in the Independent film “The Coalition” written by NFL All-Star Terrell Suggs and “I’m Where It’s At” was also featured in the BET hit series “The Game”. Another two songs “Ayo” and “So Fresh” were featured in Season 5 of The Wire as well as on the soundtrack The Wire: Beyond Hamsterdam. Through all of the ups and downs of the industry, Bossman remains consistent in his approach and his commitment to making music and changing the game. With this in mind, Bossman has undergone a personal transformation and has decided to reintroduce himself by dropping the Bossman moniker and beginning to perform under his given name of Travis Davon. By doing this, Travis feels he can give fans more of himself as a person as opposed to an image or a gimmick that was made up to generate sales. Travis Davon’s first body of work will be a mixtape release entitled “Back to the Future” which will cover his experiences finding himself and creating a new experience for all who are willing to listen. With this release, Travis intends to hold nothing back when it comes to content and will give a fresh perspective on an original sound. After major record deals, several independent album releases, writing for R&B and hip-hop artists, Travis Davon is coming “Back to the Future” to let everyone know, we are all different and can’t be afraid to speak up and show it or express it. Be prepared for Travis Davon…
