简介
This is a must-have African album with very unique and catchy songs. Emile Kangue is arguably Cameroon’s most unique Makossa singer and unarguably one of the few who are keeping the Real Makossa music alive. Therefore the CD is a must-have in many ways: None the least a preservation of a dying breed of top Cameroonian artists such as Desto, Jacky Doumbe, Penda Dalle, Misse Ngoh Francois etc. The golden age of Makossa is fading fast. With past hit titles as Halom, Douala Info, Dikom Lam La Moto (Made even more popular by late Charlotte Mbango), We Nde Championne, Village Amatongue, it is easy to see why Emile Kangue has such a large fan base in his native Cameroon as well as in Esat Africa and beyond. For this 50th Anniversary album, Emile Kangue collaborated with Song writer and Producer Engineer Oscar Ashu Eta Jr. Oscar and Emile Kangue collaborated on three songs: Massa Chop chop who eats everything that comes his way (Don’t we all know someone like him?), Daddy Oscar which is a fitting tribute to Oscar’s beloved Dad and Manyu People which urges the people originating from Oscar’s Manyu Division of Cameroon to come together as one and put their exceptional talents to the benefit of the Division, Cameroon and Africa. These songs are in Pidgin English and are easy to understand. The five other songs by Emile Kangue are sung in a combination of Douala and French. It’s difficult to pick a favorite from the hard hitting Na Ma Bolea Nde Ne to the slow O nyol’ango. This album will satisfy the first-time explorers of African music as well as those savvy in the genre who are looking not just to shake it down (dance) but for something that will accompany them on long road trips. You can’t go wrong with this one as once more, Emile Kangue delights us with his unique singing talent and wide musical range.
