FIRST: For a candid, up to date interview with Clif Hanger check out this website. NOTHING'S LEFT OUT!!http://www.scannerzine.com/thefreeze.htm The Freeze began playing Punk Rock in 1979 and have been attempting to play what we began playing for the past 26 years, just trying to improve our Punk style with every new song we write. We have 12 studio albums out, we've headlined 2 tours of Europe and one tour of the states. The latest news is that our first 45 I HATE TOURISTS has just been re-released by Schizophrenic Records out of Canada in a limited edition of 1000. There are also VERY limited amounts, 50 or so, that came out on blue and light green Vinyl. We've recently signed a new contract with BEER CITY Records. This contract includes a guarantee of recording a New Studio CD of all NEW songs sometime later this year. We are already planning our first release on BEER CITY, a CD containing TWO Live in the studio performances on WERS, Boston's Emerson College Radio station. These two live performances include one from 1985 where we previewed then NEW songs from our "forthcoming" album RABID REACTION, as well as many older cuts. The second Live session was recorded in July of 2005. It consists of 14 tracks including TWO Brand New songs that have NEVER been heard or played anywhere else. The two songs are "Somebody's Been Bleeding" and "New Eyes". Rounding out the remainder of this forthcoming CD release will be three seldom heard tracks from a split CD we did with the German Punk band The Killrays, and the 4 tracks we recorded for a split CD we did with the Chicago Punk band The Bollweevils, called A DEADLY DUO. It was released in 1996 by Dr Strange. Both of these splits are now long out-of-print! Also in the works is a 25 year comprehensive DVD tentatively titled "25 YEARS OF DEFIANCE". It will include hours of Live footage never before available, interviews with band members past and present, and many other "Special Features". BEER CITY should be set to release this early in 2006. Finally watch for other re-releases of ALL currently out-of-print Cds', never before released LIVE shows, Rare and alternate tracks, and then finally a Second Tour of the state and a third tour of Europe. Today THE FREEZE are: Joe Koonz: Lead Guitar Walter Gustafson: Drums Eric Short: 2nd Guitar Kevin Bonelli: Bass Clif Hanger: Vocals Customer Reviews Average Customer Review: 5 STARS (The Highest Rating!) A Decaying Star continues to SHINE!, November 30, 2005 Reviewer: Golias "Edward Gorey and Clif Hanger, this is a match made in who knows where? The world should just be VERY happy it happened because the original Gorey cover art sets the perfect tone for the perfect album by the perfectly imperfect Punk band THE FREEZE! Anxiety, Suicide, LetterBombs, Meth Labs, swift-slash guitar lines, tunes that attach to your neurons like emotionally twisted musical leeches. This is the doorway into the subconscious nightmares which we all experience but are too scared to let out into the open. Clif's lyrics take you through that doorway and onto a grand stage of psychiatic mutations. Here are the twisted mirror images that flash suddenly in the mind whenever the idea of DEATH begins to hover. Let the lyrics embrace you and the music seep inside you and you'll be changed forever! I've NEVER heard a band that has this type of power before..." STILL THE BEST!, November 25, 2004 Reviewer: Rick Havoc "The Freeze and Edward Gorey! You couldn't ask for a better suited pair working together. The songs are murky cries for help, or gurgling goodbyes from the tortured, twisted and the just worn out. Bill Close laid down his usual smack-down, hissing, blazes of guitar glory for the last time. He left the band the moment he laid down his last guitar tracks for this CD. This might be the end of the only truly LEGENDARY Boston Punk Rock band. Southern CA has Social D, and Bad Religion, Minnesota had HUSKER DU, NY/NJ had THE MISFITS, SF SCREECHING WEASEL and the DK'S, BOSTON had THE FREEZE and we should be proud to say it!!!!" GREAT ALBUM! February 8, 2004 Reviewer: Dannon Tarpley "Great album by these guys. It sounds great and there are some good songs. This is more like their early stuff...buy it!" THE FREEZE March on!, December 4, 2001 Reviewer: "bobnod" (Seattle, WA USA) "After being a "fan" of THE FREEZE ever since I can remember, it's so refreshing and re-assuring to know that after 22 years of playing PUNK ROCK, that THE FREEZE still have "IT"! ONE FALSE MOVE has 14 great songs AND unbelievably, cover art by the Legendary Edward Gorey! What an unbeatable combination! I hear they're still together and will be releasing more studio stuff soon!" ALIVE AND KICKING (the dead)!!! December 16, 1999 Reviewer: robert cross (California) "This is a torturous CD to listen too, only because Clif Hanger chronicles the sad and lonely sides of life like no other lyricist who has ever put pen to paper. Sometimes I'll get these suicidal thoughts and I'll put THE FREEZE on and realize that there are others out there who have it just as bad as me. I don't feel alone anymore. Thanks for the 20 years!" "BEST Punk Band in the world releases their best CD yet!," June 17, 1999 Reviewer: A music fan. "20 years later who'd have thought THE FREEZE could still pull THE BIG ONE off. This is Punk Rock without the frills, but with lyrics and guitar lines that are unforgettable. ONE FALSE MOVE is the best yet for 1999!"
