Filippo is a very promising musician and his recording shows him as a guitar player and as a composer accompanied by some fine partners. It doesn’t happen so often to find somebody that has really something to say, especially if the artist is publishing his debut recording. I was pleasantly surprised by listening to “Chiaroscuro”, a mature and all round cd that is showing a great deal of inspiration and commitment, sensibility and logic. The compositions are melodic but yet harmonically surprising, reminding me vaguely the Kenny Wheeler’s work. The quartet/quintet is formed by Filippo Castellazzi on guitar, Tino Tracanna on saxophones, Roberto Cipelli on piano, Antonio Piasano on drums and Manolo Cabras on double bass.
