The Bish/Thompson Duo

As two innovative and exploratory characters Greg Bish and Anthony Thompson wished to share their musical experiences as a duet. However, when you perform on two such contrasting instruments as the guitar and the trumpet, this is not as straight forward as it sounds. As practically no music exists for a guitar and trumpet duo, it took the pair weeks to compile an appropriate list of repertoire. The result, though, is wonderful and makes every concert with the Bish/Thompson duo a voyage of discovery.

The performers are not afraid to tackle any repertoire and they have their own arrangements of various Renaissance lute songs, lieder and classical sonatas right through to modern day pop songs. They are also committed to commissioning new works from young composers, two of which are represented on this disc.

This recording was made on the last evening of a short tour, undertaken during May 2011 and features Greg Bish on guitars with Anthony Thompson on Flugel horn, Bb, D and piccolo trumpets.
