The music I write is inspired by stories from the Bible. Here are scripture references for these songs: Walk on the Water with Me is based on Matthew 14:22-33. The Promised Land is inspired by the story of Moses on Mount Nebo in Deuteronomy 34. It also draws from the story of the preparations to enter the Promised Land in the first three chapters of Joshua and the description of the Land of Canaan in Numbers 13. The Tree of Life appears in stories in Genesis 2-3 and Revelation 21-22. This song ties these stories together. The Belly of the Whale is about Jonah and uses the first three chapters of that book as its inspiration. It’s Gonna Rain is based on the story of Noah as told in Genesis 6. This Rock tells the story of John 8:1-11 from the perspective of a man in the crowd. Least of These is a modern retelling of the story in Matthew 25:31-46. Son of David is the story of the healing of the blind man from Mark 10: 46-52 told from his point of view. You are Blessed is based on the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:1-12. Six Minutes After Seven draws from the apocalyptic images in the Book of Revelation. I hope my songs will give you a fresh perspective on these traditional stories.
