简介
Harmonious, passionate, and at times tongue-in-cheek, 31 Chorales is evidence of what happens when an award-winning composer and soprano saxophonist commits himself to the creative challenge of a lifetime: to write 31 Bach-style chorales in 31 days in celebration of his 31st birthday. Popularized by J.S. Bach, a chorale uses four independent, interweaving voices to musically and creatively express text, each piece lasting one to two minutes. While non-vocal, the music Mosher wrote for this project exudes the harmonious warmth of Bach, Stravinsky’s wry humor, and the impressionistic phrasing of Debussy and Ravel – yet offers a fresh and contemporary air that is so uniquely Mosher. Written and arranged between October/November 2010, 31 Chorales was recorded with Mosher and his quartet, featuring himself on soprano sax; Micah Killion on trumpet; Peter Hess on bass clarinet and Nathan Turner on tuba. Funding for the recording of this album was made possible using Kickstarter.com’s crowd-funding model and would not have been possible without the gracious financial backing and support of: Aaron Gervais, Alex Goodman, Amanda Gillespie, Ann Braithwaite, Bettino Bourgeois, Bill Lance, Bob Mosher, Bree Malkuch, Brian Landrus, Brian Salsman, Caitlin Smith, Chris Johnson, D.L.
