简介
"Kneebody flies above the label zone, crafting instrumental, postmodern music that jukes convention and genre. If the group's intricate compositions had to be filed away in a record bin, chances are they would rest in the jazz corner, but the Los Angeles/NYC quintet touches on post-rock, classical, and avant-garde forms as often as they flirt with swing. Last year's Low Electrical Worker found the band stretching out in odd meters with equally odd instruments, getting loud, having a blast - and maybe even reinventing music a little in the process" The Onion, 2008 By combining sophisticated compositions and virtuosic improvising, Kneebody has created a diverse, loyal fan base in the United States and Europe. Founded in 2001, Kneebody has built upon an impressive array of individual resumes and conservatory training to create a truly singular voice within the instrumental world. In 2005 Kneebody released their debut album “Kneebody” on Dave Douglas’ Greenleaf Music Label. In 2007 they followed up with “Low Electrical Worker” on the Colortone Label. A collection of 13 original songs, “Low Electrical Worker” was hailed by saxophonist Joshua Redman as one of his “favorite albums of 2007”. In the spring of 2009, Kneebody and vocalist Theo Bleckmann will release “12 Songs of Charles Ives” on the Winter and Winter label. Kneebody is currently completing their forthcoming studio album which will be released on Winter and Winter.
