简介
As a budding duo releasing their first album, backed by seasoned musicians, these two female singer-songwriters have spent several years together exploring the many different styles of music that influence and inspire them to create their own sound. From folk to blues to rock n' roll, Alice and the Rabbit just truly love to play music. Since these girls grew up together, they've spent most of their time jointly discovering the paths that have led them to their current musical esthetic. From their first meeting in middle school, they loved the Velvet Underground, then discovered Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Etta James, and The Grateful Dead, have been moved by a variety of music ever since. Alice and the Rabbit formed in 2009, but the girls have been writing and playing music together for 13 years. Originally the "band" consisted solely of the two girls, Laura Lacy on guitar and vocals and Natalia Selevanova on vocals and occasional bongo. They initially played open mics in Southern California, then graduated to small shows. Eventually they learned they needed further accompaniment to enhance their sound. This album was an experimental adventure that took Alice and the Rabbit past the confines of simply playing as a duo to expanding their music with several other musicians. Never actually having permanent band members through all their time playing together, the girls found themselves frequently playing with veteran musicians for recordings or shows, allowing them to further explore the possibilities of their craft. Drawing on the resources of Laura's father and musican/producer Doug Legacy, the girls have enlisted such amazing talents as Mark Shark of the John Trudell Band and John Avila and Johnny "Vatos" Hernandez of Oingo Boingo to lend this debut recording its own distinct vibe.
