Josh Klein & Friends appeared at parties, clubs and in studios around Boston during Josh's time studying at Berklee, and the subsequent years he taught music in the area. Known for their free-form funk jams, they were free to explore rich groove patterns and dense harmony. 3 Full Albums in this download. I'll break them all down for you: Disc 1 (Tracks 1-10): This was initially released as "Trio", and is exactly that. Trio with Josh on guitar, Scott Killick on bass and Dave McDonald on drums. This is a completely improvisational disc, with almost no pre-written content. Scott's other credits include the StickBottle Band (previous group of Josh's). Dave McDonald has played with jazz greats from all over the world. He is currently the drummer for the Airmen of Note. Disc 2 (Tracks 11-41): 31 tracks of incredible musicianship. This session was originally billed as "The Wellspring Session" as it was recorded at Wellspring Studio in Massachusetts. Musicians on this one include Scott Flynn (Pretty Lights, Elephant Wrecking Ball, John Brown's Body), Luke Penella (owner of Penella Saxophones), Stefan Colson, Nic Rochefort (formerly of the Canadian Idol House Band) and Will Kelly (USAF Jazz Band). Stathis Lontos and Ben Healy were featured on "Curses" and "Five for Eight" Disc 3 (Tracks 42-50): Live at Rutman's Violin shop in Boston, MA. Line-up includes Nic Rochefort, Jesse Beigel and Alex Busby Smith. Great live sound and great jam session. Special thanks to all the musicians that made these recordings possible!
