简介
Steve Coleman is a New Jersey native who brings ten years of performance experience out each time he and his Martin guitar take stage. As front-man for acoustic roots group Gabriel's hold, Steve weaves folk and rock into his gutsy delivery, leaving the audience with an energized show, every time. His smile is contagious and leaves you with no doubt; he's having a great time. Earlier this year, Steve decided it was time to begin his solo career and began work on recordings for an album. At the same time he also applied to the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Based on the pre-production recordings, Steve was selected to perform as an emerging artist showcase act. Soon after the festival, Steve completed his debut solo album "not making much sense". Steve is proud to debut his self-released effort at the end of the summer, and will surely be promoting this rookie record. The Daily Record (NJ) writes "The crisp vocals of Steve Coleman, the rootsy road trip inspired lyrics and the spirited rhythm grabs you magnetically." Steve describes his debut as "a relief to my songwriting". "I had been playing songs by myself for many years that had no place with the band, (Gabriel's hold) they were introspective, reflective folk songs with some grit, and it's hard to translate those songs to an audience that's looking for some Gh dancing tunes." "For instance, the song "Closely" is about a father's love and overwhelming desire to be everything for his child. That kind of song needs a special audience, and Falcon Ridge was the perfect place to pre-release my album."
