We're proud to be from Detroit. Contrary to negative media coverage, it is a city rich in history, culture, diversity, and spirit. We're honored to walk in the "big shoes" left behind by local greats John Lee Hooker, Etta James, Marvin Gaye, Johnnie Bassett, etc.. We're glad to point to all the living artists who call Detroit their home. And we're humbled to find this thriving music scene embracing us, and to be nominated for a 2012 Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Blues artist as well as compete as a finalist in the 2012 Detroit Blues Challenge and perform at some of the best venues in town. Several songs on this album began as live jams that were later paired with Bob’s lyrics; others were results of the annual FAWM project; and yes, we even included a couple of old favorites where we thought the definitive recording was captured this night. We can’t wait for you to hear “Keeper”… Since we started Delta Twins in 2009 , we've had a "revolving door" of friends backing us. This year things stabilized with a fantastic lineup of young musicians - "The Triplets" - consisting of Leland McCann on drums, Jake Burdock on lead guitar, and Kenny Szymanski on bass. This powerful, energetic group of young men helped propel us to new heights in 2012, giving us even more courage and incentive to "Sing to the sky like there's nothing to hide". But like Del Paxton told Shades, “Ain’t no way to keep a band together…”, and as Kenny moves on we wish him our very, very best. We hope these songs move you. We hope the lyrics work their magic down deep in your soul. Because in the end, it’s all about the “delta” - the change.
