M.D.1 (born Marcos Hernandez, August 29, 1986 in Torrance Ca.) , is a MexicanAmerican model, singer-songwriter and fashionista who resides in Los Angeles. Having grown up in Long Beach, he has strong roots of Bob Marley, Snoop Dog and Tupac, but his music has influence from Andrea Bocelli to Michael Jackson and everything in between, leaving the word "Variety" to best describe his music talent. Being an internet celebrity with more than 30,000 likes on his Facebook page, he was invited to the 63rd annual Grammy after party and several red carpets. Shot by various photographers he quickly stepped into the modeling business and tucked endorsements in Mexico under his belt. Lee Cherry (who has photographed Adam Lambert and produced Christina Aguilera's music video) photographed M.D.1 in 2013. One photograph in particular caused contreversy in particular, the cover to his first worldwide hit available soon on iTunes, "Salvation". His charismatic persona has made him one of the most appealing Artists in several countries including Mexico, Brazil and the Philippines. In 2009 he ventured into retail. He opened a store that offered men's and women's accessories. Upon popular demand, he hired a team of makeup artists and hairstylist who created one of the first at home professional hairstyling and makeup application. But due to the mall going under where his business was located, he was forced to close his business and succumb to economic whiplash. In 2011, Markos by J&M was closed, but in tribute to his success, a fashion show took place where 2,000 people attended. During various modeling gigs, he met and sought guidance from Michael Lavine and Paris Hilton's publicists, both whom said the same thing, that his drive was what would make him famous, not them. M.D.1 only worked harder and networked and finally his ambition paid off. In early 2013, Clarence Jey (Grammy nominated producer) contacted M.D.1 and the hit song "Salvation" was created. Leaving his fans hungry for more, M.D.1 started working on more music and met with more photographers for album covers. There's rumors of a book in the future that tells of his struggle which is profoundly groundbreaking and heart wrenching. During interviews, M.D.1 remains composed and confident, but he admits that the road was never easy and always seemed to let him down, but that he can now feel that there is hope and it is all thanks to his fan who without them, M.D.1 would not know what to do. He tweeted that his New Years resolution for 2014 was to dedicate himself to communicate his passion for his fans more effectively through his music.
