When I sat down to write this “About Me” section I couldn’t help wondering: “will anybody actually bother to read this stuff?” I’m relatively certain that, for the most part, all people really care about is the music. However, since I am an independent country artist and don’t have a team of marketing people out there promoting me to the entire world, I better share at least a few things about me. My name is Steve McCormick and I was born on Halloween in 1966 in a place called Binghamton, NY. I love all kinds of music and have lots of influences. I started playing piano in my teens and then bass guitar. During the late 80‘s I fell in love with country music and began to seriously pursue it, placing an ad in a local music magazine as a country singer looking for a band. I got my first job playing bass and singing lead vocals with a country band in Southern New Jersey called The Smoky Junction Outlaws. Not long after that, I began writing and co-writing my own songs and recorded my first CD in 1997 simply titled “Steve McCormick”. I moved to Nashville, TN with my beautiful wife Kathleen in October 1999, just one week after our wedding day. I honestly don’t know where I would be or what I’d be doing right now had it not been for my wife urging me to go to Nashville. I probably never would have had the nerve to move away from everyone I know and love without her by my side. All my love and thanks to you for that, Kathleen.
