Leslie and I moved to Austin Texas from Dallas in 1990 to better promote our original material. While attending the SXSW Music Festival we met composer/ bassist, Allen Steadham and formed The Killer Tomatahs. The band went through several incarnations as it became increasingly popular in Texas over the next two years but Leslie, Allen and I were the core. We worked our way up toward the top of the fertile Austin Music Scene where art is its own reward. Some nights, we even took home more money than we owed our baby sitter! This CD represents the best of several sessions were we recorded versions of material written or co-written by us three. Though the Killer Tomatahs stopped touring in 1992 due to Leslie's ill health, the roots-rock and blues tunes still sound Fresh and contemporary. Ms. Sahlen, herself, resides in the seaside village of San Carlos receiving treatment for health problems she believes are the result of silicone breast implants in the 1970s. The disabling fatigue, pain and high medical costs forced the sale of her thriving lecture agency in Dallas, Texas in the late 1980s. "The silicone brain fog was tragic in a business where the spoken word is so integral.", Ms. Sahlen explained. For years she managed to work part-time at Austin's Paramount Theater, then later with Las Vegas agent, Sal Murillo, and 1960s rock diva, Spanky McFarlane . Even part time became physically impossible so Ms. Sahlen retired to Mexico where medical care is less costly.
