"Same Old Nightmare" is a concept album and the second recording in studio of the Alternative Rock Band GUNASH with the extraordinary contribution of the American musician RAMI JAFFEE, keyboardist of Foo Fighters, founder with Jacob Dylan of The Wallflowers and involved in recording projects winners of several Grammy Awards. Rami recorded at his Fonogenic Studio in Los Angeles and his colorful Hammond B3 has enriched the sound of Gunash. Inside the eleven (plus one bonus) tracks, the sense of loss is described in each of its displays. Excepted “Israfel” that’s a tribute to the E.A. Poe’s homonymous poem about the Coran’s angel “whose heart-strings are a lute”, you can guess the loss of self-esteem into “Graveman” ‘s ironically mournfull lyrics, and the one of the dear ones in “Kannibal Orkids” and “Paper dolls” (that’s followed by an instrumental Coda in rock progressive colours). In “A New Life” there’s the loss of trust in the place of one’s own and the desire to look for something more agreeing with the expectations. “Underwater” is a short punk trip into the most hidden fears, among which the one to be not up to the task of the necessary change. In “Born in Spring – Part I” you attend the disintegration of the ego that doesn’t recognize itself in the mirror. “Ghost” shows that the worst never ends, since the protagonist feels to be a ghost fearing death. “Born in Spring – Part II” assigns to Hendrix the merit to have “taught” the protagonist how to play, but it must be seen as the awareness of the thaumaturgical power of music. “Dream Away” is a passionate love song dedicated to the lost woman of one’s own, who one trusted in to reach serenity. “Weathercock”, the bonus track, is a bucketful of poison thrown on the same woman’s face, the taking of consciousness that it’s possible to fall on the feet when even the certainty of love has ran out. On its whole, the album is a kind of autodiagnosis made by someone who suffered very much, and an attempt to rationalize the “same old nightmare” so that avoiding the tearing away from life that it may cause. GUNASH was born in 2003 from an idea by singer/guitarist ZOR and drummer/percussionist/pianist P@NNICO as a cover band with different name and staff, little by little it tended towards an Alternative Rock influenced by punk, metal, post-grunge, stoner and prog (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Faith No More, Foo Fighters, Qotsa, Porcupine Tree, etc…). At the end of 2005, Gunash published an homonymous album for the Italian Label New LM Records (Crotalo Edizioni Musicali) from Ravenna, which is followed by an activity of Live concerts and composing new original songs. Since 2008 the line up has been consisted of singer/guitarist ZOR who busies himself with figurative art too, of bassist THE SOLID and of drummer/percussionist/pianist P@NNICO. Occasionally, violoncellist CACTUS, experienced musician who played in the Pavarotti’s Orchestra, joins it. In 2012 Gunash come again in Studio for the production of the second album, titled "Same Old Nightmare". In 2014 the album "Same Old Nightmare" is published and distributed by the prestigious independent Record Label Go Down Records. The band’s name is a pun between Ganesh (the Indian divinity with elephant head, god of knowledge and patron of letters and arts), Gunas, that are the four phases of the transforming matter for the Indian Alchemy and the fusion of the English words Gun and Ash; after all, a mix of spirituality and esotericism with the gloomy contradiction given by the two Anglo-Saxon terms, as to intend to show that every concept implies its opposite.
