简介
The Question Music is about expression, and I always asked myself: what am I expressing? What does playing didjeridoo mean for me? The didjeridoo evokes end carries out the impossibility of silence. The impossibility of silence is, originally, the underground drone of our existence. If it's impossible to “produce” silence, the sound is continuous. More deeply, if the silence is impossible, what is it this "drone"? From here the fascination, astonishment and sometimes the uneasiness when a sound comes up at all out of it. For Breathless I tried to work better on my “rythmic section". Trying to improve the interaction between sound, instrument and the performer. Going back to the essence. The origin of the musical and human experience. This complete unity, that in martial arts is called kata, allowes me to express the rythm in total freedom and adopting, at the same time, a deep concentration. As the river to be powerful must be forced by well-defined margins so the ethical dimension of rhythm involves total constraint. The “ethical” dimension of rhythm involves a long search for precision and the “infinity” between the beats. But what determines the rhythm is essentially the silence. We are back to the incipit, closing the circle. If there isn't absolute silence, we could be listening to it. In the beginning there wasn't silence. The didgeridoo said, evokes and applies this impossibility. This underground and inexplicable voice, that burns and asks the Question. More than original I try to be originary. My intent focus on bringing back an echo of what exists before the first sound. Through the sound. - Gianni Placido - Please remember to set your music player with 1 second silence between every track!
