SFS0014 finds Subcorr doing his thing and putting in work. On the A side “Asleep at Sea,” the Vancouver based producer provides a woozy 808 roller to challenge anyone’s sea legs. Cutting through a sea of reverb where the most experienced sailor might lose their cool, filtered synth stabs provide just enough accent to get the track stepping. On the B side “Werk,” a thick halftime beat of overdriven 808s sets the stage for a constantly morphing club track. Skittering hi hats, pitched snares and a slew of vocal play keep it moving forward without the chance to settle. True club experimentalism at its finest.
