简介
1. Realisation No one knows when a realisation takes place in our heart. But when it does, it simply happens like magic. This magical mystery is the beauty a realised person beholds within. In this composition Sunil expresses feelings of that moment in time when he experienced such realisation, like a Zen satori, an epiphany, a bliss.. He says: “I am deeply in love with simple melodies. I realised simplicity is everything. In this song you will hear me express my true self. It reflects who I am”. 2. Railway Blues (Aama Rudai Gaon Besi Melaima) This piece is based on a famous Nepali folk ballad that portrays the life of migrant workers and their family relationship, especially with parents. It is a story of a young boy who works at the Gorkahpur Railway station in India away from a Nepali village. His mother weaves her plight in beautiful melodies. Sunil, who has seen and lived through such moments of time in his own life merges his soulful flute melodies into the ethos of this heartfelt song. The sound is divine, almost human. 3. Worker Ants Hard work, perseverance, resilience, determination, and focus are some of the attributes the ants are bestowed with in folklores, poetry, philosophy, spiritual teachings. Perhaps these outstanding qualities of ant strikes an archaic chord so deep in our subconscious that we are reminded of the story of our own survival since the time of creation. This reminder is what Sunil has evoked in a playful melody to celebrate the liveliness and persistent labours of the worker ants. And Navaraj’s mathematically rendered Tabla beats symbolise their disciplined rhythm. 4. Resham Firi This is a story of love woven to the symbolic flow of a strand of silk that wishes to fly away and stay up in the mountains fluttering with the winds. The song reveals multitude of Nepali folk symbols while expressing the feelings of love. From a calf falling off a cliff, to a dog’s bark, to a cat’s purr; from a clandestine promise to meet by the village crossroads to a journey together afar, the melodies are beautifully rendered in a unique style by Sunil and Navaraj. 5. The Ultimate Freedom When we walked inside the recording studio with the Didgeridoo and the Flute, we had left all options open about what to play. It was my first time recording with Sunil. In one of the unique musical and poetic encounters of our professional life, Sunil and I completed this piece in one go. There was no rehearsal, no break, no repeated takes on the fly. All it took was the willingness to explore beyond forms, restrictions, inhibitions and dare to go off the trail and be back in one form. This music was thus born, out of forms, the ultimate freedom. 6. Earthy Birds Deep in the Himalayan temperate forests sings a bird with a soft melancholic tone, almost weeping, modulating the landscapes of South and Central America revealing the songs of the Mayans, Aztecs, Incas; complemented by the reverberation of the high art of the Indus Valley civilisation. This is the sound of Ocarina. A small archaic clay flute in the shape of a bird at the hands of the eloquent flutist Sunil who has in this piece expressed the feeling of the moment of the earthy bird on the Ocarina. Track Titles and Song Interpretations by Salil Subedi. Sunil Pariyar is a very sincere, modest and devoted musician. He loves music from the depths of his heart and has been dedicated to practicing the bamboo flute for several years, during which time has become dear to me. He has completed his bachelor's degree of classical music (flute). With the strong base of classical music, he has been playing, performing & promoting Nepalese folk melodies nationally and internationally. In this solo instrumental album he presents his own compositions based on Bhopali Raaga & Hamsadhowni Raaga; beautiful & deliberate creations of his own flavor. Additionally he has included some popular Nepalese folk melodies in his own charming style, which will entertain listeners. The combination of the didgeridoo & bamboo flute is absolutely heart touching. I wish him all the best for his future endeavors. - Jeevan Ale My Gratitude to all the helping hands who contributed in the making of this album! It was my dream to release a solo music album from the time I started learning the bamboo flute. And here I am, after having gone through many ups and downs of life, finally I am able to present to you my dreams in beautiful melodies, energetic rhythms and mystical sound vibrations. I would not have achieved this length of the journey had it not been for my family, my mentor Mr. Jeevan Ale, my friends and all those beautiful souls who supported me unconditionally. I would also like to thank from the core of my heart Mr. Navaraj Gurung whom I consider as the one and the only versatile and down-to-earth Tabla player from Nepal who set a strong rhythmic foundation for my music. I am massively thankful to Mr. Salil Subedi for blending in his soulful and ecstatic sound and vibes of the didgeridoo; and for his heart touching words to describe and interpret my music and give their title names. Also my special thanks goes to Mr. Rajay Gurung for his great help and support in recording, mixing and mastering the tracks with great expertise. Most of all I am indebted to my dearest wife Mrs. Shrijana Thapa Pariyar for her best love, care and support while working on this project. - Sunil Pariyar Navaraj Gurung is a virtuoso Nepali musician and a master Tabla player.
