简介

Grant Drum Line was founded in 2009 as an extra curricular program to give students the opportunity to tap into their musical nature while simultaneously avoiding getting into trouble. Since then the program has received a magnitude of exposure and has grown. In 2015 Grant Drum Line raised over $100,000.00 and performed at the 2015 National Independence Day Parade in Washington DC as the official representative of the state of California. In 2016 the Drum Line performed in Matsuyama Japan at the Sacramento/Matsuyama Sister City 35th Anniversary. It also performed in Gogoshima, Miyajima, and Hiroshima. The Drum Line has performed for Hillary Clinton, performed on Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel with ABC Good Morning America Host Robin Roberts. It has opened up for Shelia E, Yolanda Adams, and Johnny Gill (former lead singer of New Edition). The Drum Line has an educational CD that can be heard on iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby. The Drum Line has been officially invited to perform in Johannesburg and Cape Town at the 2019 American Celebration of Music if South Africa by Mayor Patricia de Lille, Mayor Herman Mashaba, and Music Celebration International. It is currently, raising money to go to Africa. It has a You Tube video titled “A message to Oprah.” The video reaches out to Ms. Winfrey informing her of its desire to perform at her school in South Africa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8RivZZAEEs Grant Drum Line has surpassed the intended goal of keeping students out of trouble. Now it’s looking for an opportunity to go to Africa and learn the rich history of rhythm and music of the African culture, and perform at the 2019 American Celebration of Music in South Africa. If you would like to support this group in its once in a life time educational endeavor to fly a group of 40 Drummers and chaperones, their equipment, pay for hotel, food, and tour bus expenses while in Africa, please make a donation.
