简介
Kaleo "Da ACE" Tynan and Joshua "Jay Deuce" Gresham, both 16 years old and Juniors at Kapolei High School, have a mission to take Hawaii's Hip Hop & Rap Music to a national level. Listening to rap music since the third grade and watching music videos has inspired Da ACE to try his hand at the game. Armed with a simple keyboard from an old Christmas gift from Sam's Club and a 10-year old drum machine that he borrowed from his dad, Da ACE started to make his own beats and write his own lyrics. It started as a hobby after school. A chance meeting with Joshua "Jay Deuce" Gresham happened at Kapolei High as Jay Deuce overheard Da ACE talking about a rap project and invited himself into the conversation. Jay Deuce had some skill & raw talent. He liked to do rap battles at school recess and lunch on occasion. The duo hooked up and started to work on their first song. After a few weeks of fanatical practice, the duo completed their first musical work entitled "BUSINESS" and played it over their MySpace website on January 30, 2007. A day after uploading the song to their Myspace sight a call from a talent scout, who heard their song online, wanted a meeting. The talent scout met with Da ACE and Jay Deuce as well as the teens' fathers. A contract was offered at the end of the meeting which created even more motivation for the teens to continue working on their music. The duo took it as a sign to pursue a career in music. The details of the offer didn't work out, but based on the quality of the music and concepts, a decision was made to invest in a home studio with professional music creation and production equipment. Da ACE quickly learned to use the sophisticated software and began composing the original instrumentals. The vocal recordings were done at Shawn Davenport Recordings to produce the first demo CD. The project progressed very quickly as Da ACE and Jay Deuce was able to write, compose, and record at a rapid rate. Completing half of their demo, they were invited to perform their music at Don Ho's Bar & Grill and Hawaiian Waters – the successful performances put the project into overdrive. Another investment to create a home-made recording booth with professional microphones was made. The self-recording process required the duo to develop more skills. With the recording being done in house, the artists covered all aspects of the production process. The artists have total control of the content, sound and integrity of the music. At age 16, Da ACE has goals set for his music career as well as his Publishing and Entertainment Company. When asked what his goal is, Da ACE replied, "Taking Hawaii to the next level, being played on national radio and breaking records with our album sales. Our music is made to appeal to fans that follow major artists and record labels, but we want the acceptance and backing of our home town and artists from Hawaii. Part of our goal is to prove Hawaii is not just a tourist spot. We want to put Hawaii further up on the mainstream music column. We have Hawaiian pride and want to show the Hip Hop world we can bump with the best." As executive producer, Da ACE "hired" his father, Ty Tynan, to be the manager of Ryde or Die Movement. Ty "T-Man" Tynan a businessman with a management degree from Boston College has taken on this project as a serious startup enterprise. Ty, an old school breaker and hip hop/rap music fan himself, was raised in the Kuhio Park Terrace housing project. "The whole hip hop movement originated from the housing/ghetto; we were into it since it first started. Don't let the age of these artists fool you, the music is quality. We kept this project on the qt as there are a lot of factors that can impact a solid entry into the music game, timing is critical. We're excited to be releasing the original work to the radio stations locally & nationally… the club's will definitely be bangin this." While networking with other local hip hoppers, Jay Deuce met Patrick John, a contact that turned out to be a very experienced and high caliber sound engineer. Patrick John, a former sound engineer with Paramount Studios has sound engineered for Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Paula Abdul, and many others. Patrick John is in process of mixing the completed tracks for Da ACE and Jay Deuce. Patrick John is also the owner of an independent Hawaii based record label "Bayan Records" and is in the process of finalizing a national distribution deal for the Ryde or Die Movement's published artists Da ACE and Jay Deuce. The final phase to complete the young duos 1st album is the mastering process. Oasis Mastering has agreed to master the album. Oasis Mastering is one of the premier mastering companies in the world. Oasis Mastering has mastered music works for Kanye West, Akon, Christina Aguillera, Will Smith, Beyonce Knowles, and many other super stars. With Oasis doing the mastering for the Hawaii artists' work, the product is ensured to be of the highest quality. The final cut for the album should be completed sometime in September 2007. The projected Hawaii pre-release of the album entitled Business is planned for October 2007. Da ACE is looking for support for all hip hop and rap artists in Hawaii. "All the artists that make it have major support from their home town, so Hawaii has a choice to buy CDs, pay for downloaded music and go to the local concerts or not -- Ryde or Die, it's that simple. The album drops this fall, we hope you will support us and pick up a CD or buy online.
