简介
From a review by Dr. Kenneth Lux: "Bobbi Bernstein has the gift that when her fingers touch the keyboard, rhythm just jumps out into the ivories, and so many varied rhythms flow throughout these songs. And it is not just Bobbi's talent, but her friends, who are in profuse numbers on this CD. All original songs are composed by the artist, with the exception of three songs with lyrics by Summer Turner, one of which - the exquisitely beautiful, "Behind Your Brown Eyes," - is sung by Buz Connor. Other wonderful singers and musicians on the album include Leslie Walsh, Jerry Edwards, Mark Trichka, Mike Miller, John Molnar, and many more. There are a variety of musical styles for your dancing and listening pleasure, including New Orleans jazz, reggae, soft rock, Latin, country waltz, rock, blues, a beguine, and other styles. A special favorite, although it is somewhat of a disservice to pick just one, is "Heart to Heart," in which Bobbi put to music a concluding paragraph of "The New Humanity" discourse of Meher Baba. It begins with "Love is essentially self-communicative....." Would you believe that it almost becomes a ragtime dance tune?!" Bobbi Bernstein grew up in a small town in New Jersey, only 20 miles from New York City. The influence of Broadway permeates these 16 songs. She has had a variety of musical experiences, including taking piano lessons as a child from a student of Aaron Copland, who taught her how to play pop songs. Bobbi graduated from Skidmore College, with a minor in music. After college, she found herself in a variety of musical groups, including blues, Latin jazz, soft rock, and other genres. She continues to sing and play piano and keyboards in locations across the United States and in India. She also plays percussion, which can be heard on some of the tracks in "Dance for Joy.".
