About Dorf Kapelle and Ernie Broeniman: The music of Dorf Kapelle captures the traditional ethnic style of a European village band. It was founded in 1988 by Ernie Broeniman, a highly-regarded Wisconsin high school band director and performer. Ernie retired from teaching in 1993. He then turned his attention even more to an expanded lineup of gigs at major festivals, stage performances, dances and concerts. Ernie currently is the band leader and artistic director of Dorf Kapelle. Since 2012, he has actively arranged music for concert band that had previously been published years earlier by the Vitak-Elsnic Company. Concert and community bands across the country now bring this beautiful music as interpreted by Ernie to a new generation of music lovers. About Abby Broeniman Abby has been singing with Dorf Kapelle since she was 12 years old. She is currently studying radiology at Bellin College in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In 2015, she was the principal vocalist on Music Publishers of America’s critically-acclaimed Then and Now album, where she performed with Alex Meixner and the Vitak-Elsnic All-Star Band. Abby has appeared on RFD-TV’s Mollie B Polka Party and also performed in Branson on the 2013 Mollie B Christmas Special. In 2015, Abby received the Youth Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame.
