简介
"Imitation is the best form of flattery".. as the saying goes. However I can't find any "imitation" on this track with regards to the homage and feel. I call it "reverence" The artists, both big Neil Young fans over the years playing in covers band in the "East Anglian" region of England. They realized that pub audiences, no matter what venue, what crowd, what occasion, there is something about playing Neil Young's "Southern Man" (of course followed by Sweet Home Alabama!) that always won over the crowd. Neil's song always had a way of subconsciously drawing the punters in. Nolan's lyrics are so convincing. As if plugged in to a metaphorical drip feed, in true Neil Young's style this song conjures up tasteful visions. Mark Robinson's gentile and un-contrived ( He has one of the most naturally sensitive and welcoming voices around) vocals and tasteful guitar playing makes this a standout track. Lastly, there exists an "edgier" almost "devil on one shoulder" angle to this track. Nolan's subtle background vocals, and bluesy harmonica playing, slightly nudges this easy rock song in the direction of the crossroads. C'mon.. even Mr. Young himself may like track!.. With hope that any fan of Neil Young would give a nod of approval to the reverence being paid on this track . It's no mean feat to have obscure musicians , tapping into the spirit from which the great man has "fanned our collective prairies " for decades. Not a session man, or studio exec , or music mogul in sight. KTLILM ( Keep The Love In The Liberation of Music)... Thanks CD Baby!.
