简介
Carper narrates her journey down life's road with a remarkable ability to put the listener right there in her shoes. Backing her soulful voice with fine guitar work, bottleneck slide, some mandolin and banjo, occasional harmony vocals and even alto saxophone, these songs grab you and stir you up. From the somber and reflective "Lost Dimension" to the confident "I'll be Fine Without You," Carper tells it like it is, with conviction. The tender observations of "When You're Gone" and the poignant portrait of "I Call the Crows" prove her ability to write empathically, not stuck inside the "me" but touching the universal emotion in all of us. Marv Ross of Ross Productions writes, " I had a feeling [Songs from the Trailer] would be perfect for our long ride home . . . I was not ready, however, for the power and honesty and beauty of the songs and the performances. I have heard so many songs in my life that it is really rare that a song makes me cry anymore, but I bawled like a baby listening to When It's Over - I think we played it 6 or 7 times to immerse ourselves in this great song. Since then, I have kept the CD in the old Subaru and it's getting TONS of airplay whenever the Rosses drive anywhere."
