KRmac doesn't believe a band should be given labels. They write and sing music in different musical styles, just about all of it with signature seventies-style vocal harmonies and all of it meant to edify and inspire the listener. While they've recorded several Christian-themed albums, they write just as much positive secular music, defying attempts to classify them as artists of either genre. The original group, called Southern Cross, consisted of husband and wife Ken and Rose McNeal,and Dennis Webb. Nashville producer, arranger and session player Warren Ells began working with the group in the late eighties, producing four albums over the next fifteen years. When Dennis Webb left the group in the nineties, the McNeals continued as a duo until 2010, when Ells officially became the third member, singing backup vocals and playing several instruments as well as arranging and producing this latest release along with Ken. Legacy, consisting of new versions of some previously recorded material and many new songs, is a labor of love for both McNeal and Ells. "We started talking one day about how some of the older songs could use an update with new production methods. One thing led to another with the addition of some new material and we just kept raising the bar on the production values until we had the album we wanted, " Ells said. With plans for another album and a tour in 2017, things are busier than ever for Krmac. Stay tuned.
