简介

A large part of our childhood was accompanied by goofy made-up songs that poked fun at life and each other. Writing music was an expression for everything. When we’d get into fights we’d write. Sometimes by choice and sometimes as our punishment. Those were usually snotty short sarcastic songs..not our best work. Our parents both write music and lyrics and we started writing our own songs before we could physically write the lyrics down with a pencil. We were raised in a split home and grew up with two very opposite parents in every way, including their musical tastes. At Dad’s house we listened to Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, The Beatles and our personal favorite Stevie Wonder. We used to beg for Abbey Road and Songs in the Key of Life to be played in the car. At Mom’s we listened to Alanis Morissette, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Jewel, The Cranberries, The Monkees, Heart, Barbra Streisand and lots of Celine Dion. Perhaps our biggest influence though was our Dad’s album Broken written by him and his best friend (Uncle Frank), we listened to that 80’s mixed tape over and over and over again. As we got older and started to grow deeper in our love for music, God, people and dare we say boys...our lyrics became more serious. Because most of our life experiences up to that point were the same we wrote together in perfect harmony. Even now we share a similar consistency in our writing styles and influences ranging from acoustic contemporary pop, rock and roll, to hints of folk. As we get older and each implore on and experience different journeys, we feel for each other so deeply that if one of us goes through something (be it good or bad) we might as well have gone through it. For that reason we can write in sync, sing each others' songs and tell each others' stories as if we were sharing a piece of our own soul. That's the beauty of writing. Writing allows us to hear the soul of someone else, sing and write for ourselves and that which is greater than ourselves. At each of our cores we are all human and whether we choose to embrace or believe it, we are all affected by and share in the same human experiences. For us music is a powerful tool that touches souls for universal love and healing. We hope that those who hear our music will feel that. - Shanah
