Henley) "Hey-O-Daddy-O" Newbeats 5 " Hi Hoss Baby " Don Gant "Birds Are For The Bees"Newbeats "Better Watch Your Step"Newbeats "The Natural" Newbeats "No Mo Crackers" Newbeats 10 "Stand Tall" Roy Acuff,Jr. "Oh Girls" Newbeats "Oh Girls" Sparkles "Something You Said " Sparkles "No Friend of Mine" Sparkles 15 Songs 1-3,JT writer/producer N.Petty Songs 4,10-15 writers JT/L.Parks 5-9/JTw/Parks &Finnicum Produced w/Parks & Wes Rose: #'s 13,14,15 "out of the woods" CD-jay turnbow music,vocals,songs,production/JT BIO Info:::: < I started in the recording business while in college.By a stroke of luck or fate I attended Eastern N.M.U.,only 20 miles from Clovis,NM,where Norman Petty's studio was located during the time when Buddy Holly & the Crickets, Jimmy Gilmer & the Fireballs,Buddy Knox,the Stringalongs, & others were recording there............I was in the Ivy Jives.We had no hits,but had some releases on Jaro,Top Rank subsidiary out of NY.As a result of having recorded there I became friends with Larry Parks who played drums on"Only the Lonely" & toured with Roy Orbison.As a result of Larry's knowing the people at Acuff-Rose in Nashville we were able to get several songs recorded."Bread & Butter" was the biggest hit,"Hey-O-Daddy-O",& "Birds are for the Bees" charted for us.Bob Finnicum co-wrote the latter two with us.We also produced the Sparkles for Hickory.Gary P.Nunn was a member of the group.A great thrill was getting to produce in Bradley's Barn in Nashville with the late great Mr.Wesley Rose."No Friend of Mine" which was picked up by Rhino Records for their Nuggets collection was done at that session.The song continues to get some action.I was a staff writer for Acuff-Rose for 5 years,then moved to Houston where I performed for 15 years,then on to the 4 corners area where I taught guitar at San Juan College a few years.Now I live near Alto,NM,have a studio in my home & mostly work on recording original music,but still perform some.I attribute an enjoyable life in the music world to a great extent to the fact that I had a great teacher,the late W.R.Wheeler start me on trombone at age 8.I played it through my sophomore year at Schreiner Institute in Kerrville,Tx.I am also grateful to the Almighty for affording me the ability to write & play music.I no longer play horn,the guitar is better suited for rock & roll,in my humble opinion..L&P/JT
