简介
There is nothing like the sound of a congregation experiencing the nearness of God, and interacting with Him in worship. The spontaneous song that rises is in a class all its own. Some call it free worship, others call it open praise or singing in the Spirit. Regardless of how it's named, it is glorious, and it quickly draws one into intimate worship and communion, or powerful praise and declaration of the beauty and majesty of God. Of the great Welsh revival (1904-1906) it was said, "One aspect of the services which must not be overlooked was the singing - 'Oh, the singing!' It was a revival of singing. One newspaper wrote, 'the fact is, unless heard, it is unimaginable and when heard, it is indescribable.' No hymn books were used. Once a song was started, it seemed to be motivated by a simultaneous unity; the melody and song were caught up by the whole congregation, merging into a myriad-headed personality of song in a perfect blending of mood, purpose, and unity, which is only possible through the Spirit of God. Three-fourths of the meeting consisted of this singing in the Spirit." We have tasted a tiny sample of this and we're ruined. We cry out, "O God, give us more!"
