TIMELINE is a band formed in 2003 out of the ashes of a former project that had run it's course after 10 years. At that point, the remaining members began the process of recruiting replacement players so the band could continue in another form. This line-up has been writing and recording since that time with a direction of heavier material after completing the initial 2005 release. We are pursuing original progressive material focusing on melody but with darker themes. Our writing has been influenced by the prog rock/metal acts of the past 30 years such as Kansas, Marillion, and Dream Theater and Saga. Our newer material has moved us in a direction that is similar to the primarily European prog and metal acts who are part of the resurgence for this genre of music. The result is a blend of tight, melodic, and sometimes complex songs with lyrical messages that mix symbolic stories and metaphor. The current philosophy of the band is to continue a direction of writing that challenges the listener to think both about the music itself and the message of the song and which, holistically, we describe as "intelligent music". We believe this is sorely lacking in today's mainstream music and one of the reasons that progressive rock and metal has become popular again. The current line-up is now 6 members. Instrumentation now consists of two guitars, keyboards, bass, drums/percussion and a lead vocalist. The material has evolved both musically and vocally with arrangements that provide for a diverse sound lush in harmonies from the instruments and voices. The band has begun to showcase itself and in parallel record and distribute our material to generate interest in the project. We are a prolific and forward-looking band that hopes to touch people with our music.
