简介
SINGER, SONGWRITER, MUSICIAN, PRODUCER, ARRANGER. NARAS VOTING MEMBER, BMI AFFILIATE Welcome to Lee Rugless' musical expressions. His singing style, music and voice have been compared to legends Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, and at times Al Jarreau. Just as all of these artists had their unique style, Rugless has perfected his sound and it is an amalgamation of urban gospel, jazz, neo soul, classical, and R & B. Lee has definitely forged a niche that is immediately identifiable as his production, writing and musicianship. True music with no boundaries or limitations. God is his inspiration and Lee has had the pleasure of performing, writing, or recording with artists such as Grammy Award recording artists Mark Kibble, Claude McKnight, and Alvin Chea of "Take 6", Grammy Award legend Andrae' Crouch, Actress & Singer Rebecca Holden, Entertainer & Actress Marion Ramsey, R & B artist Michael Henderson, gospel recording artist Anthony Whigham, and Athletes For Abstinence - AC Green, David Robinson, Barry Sanders, vocalist Lisa Vaughn, entertainer Ledoria Johnson, and gospel recording artist Barron Peeler. Rugless made his acting debut with the Jerry Jones' play "Inquest" which he co-starred with the late La Wanda Page (Aunt Esther of Sanford & Son). This play was loosely based on the dramatic death of the late Sam Cooke and Lee got a delightful privilege to sing some of Cooke's songs. The play received rave reviews in Los Angeles, California, Huntsville and Birmingham, Alabama in 1994. Lee was Musical Director & Accompanist for the play "Love In Concert" Written & Performed by Makeda Tene'. Rugless got the opportunity to play some of his original compositions along with traditional gospel, and show tunes. The Play was performed to capacity audiences at the famous Lucy Florence Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California during June 2007 and an encore performance in November 2007. In December 2007, Mr. Rugless performed in Lancaster, California with an Orchestra and Choral in the Carol Cymbala penned Christmas Musical "Light of the World". His solo selections included "Glory to God in the Highest", "Light of the World", and a duet with Patti Jackson on "His Plan". The Musical was conducted by Pastor Monty Jackson, Associate Pastor of Worship and the Arts at Monterey Living Hope Church Church of the Nazarene. Easter Celebration March 2008 was special for Lee as he performed in the Benjamin Wright Orchestra at Faithful Central Bible Church at the Inglewood Forum. The orchestra accompanied R & B, pop legend and multiple grammy award winner Chaka Khan, and grammy, stellar, dove award winner gospel singer Tremaine Hawkins and the Faithful Central choir for the "Joy of Easter" play. Upon listening to Lee's music it is pleasantly apparent that he loves and respects various genres of music. The classical and jazz jewel of the CD is the by the ocean textures of "New Song". The listener can picture a psalmist playing a stringed instrument, crooning Psalm 98, sitting next to the ocean and watching seagulls playfully frolic in the air. "Glory" is a praise hit that recalls the dancing bass line of the late gifted bassist James Jamerson of the Motown Funk Brothers. The title track "Time" opens with a story of a man with a contrite heart and yearning for forgiveness. The incredible string vamp at the end of the song provided an emotional release for this writer. "TIME" is an extremely creative, positive CD that will last an eternity and bring perpetual joy to the listener’s heart and ear. Reviewer: Ms Stats
