These tracks represent some of my favorite compositions from over the years.. They clearly reflect my background and my musical interests. Just Imagine is a blend of classical and jazz while Some Other Day is an updated blues. The Girl With The Stars In Her Eyes and Playin" Possum are pretty much straight ahead jazz; The Bottom Line (played here as duet with my son, Ben) has Latin roots and Over and Out has a jazz/blues swing. Cornerstones. Norcatur, Fahey's Meditation, 6:10 to Tulsa, and Dance for Ethel were all written for the Insignia Films documentary Cornerstones where the goal was to capture a contemporary take on the various styles of Americana: the progressive folk of John Fahey and Leo Kottke, Hawaiian Slack Key guitar, and country blues. Untitled and Titled were written by Ben and arranged as duets by the two of us. They were recorded live at a concert in Santa Fe NM. The final two tracks are techno pieces Ben and I created in his studio.These are rhythmic and richly layered with acoustic instruments. Percolation blends guitar cello , kalimba and percusion in a twist on modern acoustic guitar styles whie B-Bossa strikes me as a deconstructed boosa nova tune.
