简介
This is the first professional pressing of the now seasoned self-titled debut from ‘loci’. Managing to span the tastes of lovers of Rock, Dance, Pop, Metal and more – loci’s weird mongrel-breed of Acoustic cross-genre Pop steeped in Sample-laced Electronica, comprising such topics as madness, paranoia, love-lost and unbridled mania. ‘Nobody sounds like this today – perhaps nobody would know how to? Therein lies its beauty and its charm.’..BACKBONE (24-7magazine) The loci ‘sound’ resounds the likes of Jamie T and Patrick Fitzgerald – using a lo-fi palette of acoustic instruments and a splattered blend of synths samples and loops to convey tricky subject matter through what is in essence a great collection of odd eclectic sing-a-longs and moreish hooks. With a high-energy acoustic sound reminiscent of Violent Femmes, and the raspy vocal timbres of early Bowie, loci is sure to catch on with those music lovers that long for a new palette. With two subsequent albums in the helter-skelter-like pipeline, and winning fans in Geoff Barrow (Portishead) and Don Ayre (Rainbow) you would do well to jump the train at this stop for a fun ride! Though born some two or more decades previous, g. sebastian loci emerged dazed from the cocoon of daily life, somewhere in a small town in the British isles. Vague memories of incarceration and intoxication lay scattered about him, to be constant reminders of every reason to stay continuously animated – never to take a single breath in sentimentality – never to pause for the same thought thrice – unless set to the appropriate bed of harmonic pleasantries - to wear the warm, protective layer of his new found consciousness with pride, and more importantly, ambition. With no belief in his years, paternity, previous existence, or even physical and biological make-up, loci held dear to the shear ideals found in harmony and melody. Finding the new time restrictions which held him puzzlingly in ‘only one place at any one time’ to be extremely inspiring in the realms of rhythm. What fun this world can be! Utterly enthralled by the effect on, and manipulation of the human senses, loci set about creating vibrating sculptures of air molecules – the great and intricate waves of compressions and rarefactions scoot through the air, similar to (only slightly faster than) the waves of sound emitted from such fantastic objects as radio and mobile phone. Have a listen!
