简介
Moonrakers is an Oxford(UK)-based multi-instrumental quartet playing Celtic traditional music and some original tunes and songs in the idiom. It features harp, flute, fiddle, cittern, guitar and whistles and songs in close harmony with male and female voices. The overall sound has a rich texture of melody and counter-melody, described by BBC Oxford as "an exquisite blend of relaxing music". The band's trademark sound is unusual arrangements, ranging from the simple beauty of O'Carolan tunes to the more complex instrumental interplay of several dance tunes. Much of the material is drawn from the traditions of the Celtic lands - Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England. Moonrakers also composes tunes and songs in the Celtic idiom. Dai Woosman (Living Tradition magazine) : "This album just OOZES quality. The most pleasant of surprises. I doubt if I will encounter a better album all year." Shire Folk Magazine (Southern Counties, UK) : "Superb musicianship, great voices. A good deal of care has gone into these arrangements; they're not rushed, and this simply adds to the beauty of the sound. " Folk on Tap (national Folk Magazine, UK) : "This will remain on our turntable for a long time." Rakes Progress (UK Folk Magazine) "The CD is full of fine performances from start to finish, with a thoughtful selection of songs and dance tunes from the Scottish and Irish traditions, arranged with complex textures of harp, flute and cittern. The production is also unusually rich for a folk CD with a warm generous sound that adds that final touch of class."
