A Midwest native, William Flynn is a guitarist and composer emerging onto the contemporary jazz community with an increasingly original musical voice. On his debut album for Armored Records, a high-powered band and exciting line-up of arrangements combine to create a fresh take on the tradition of jazz musicians playing pop tunes, and as the album’s title hints, suggests opening up the Great American Songbook for some new additions. The Songbook Project will not only appeal to jazz fans, but will also appeal to non-jazz listeners who are familiar with the album’s songs.
