After her previous releases of the singles 'Lullaby' (2013), 'Deixa a Chuva Passar' (2013) and 'Levam ma bo' (2015) Melissa presents her debut album 'Sonho de um Beija-flor'. The music of Melissa is a blend of Cape Verdean and Brazilian influences with a touch of jazz and soul. With her album 'Sonho de um Beija-flor 'Melissa takes you on a journey through her musical world full of tropical atmospheres and surprising style combinations. In addition to her own band members Melissa worked with various renowned artists on the production of her album. Including guitarist and arranger Marcos di Paolo (Argentina), percussionist Miroca Paris (Portugal), bassist and pianist Lucio Vieira (Cabo Verde), pianists Carlos Matos and Toy Vieira, guitarist Johnny Fonseca and percussionist Nils Fischer to name a few. Her music was produced by the Cape Verde resident Sebas dos Santos (Mobass) with co-production by Danilo Tavares. Additional producers for the album are Kiki Gomes, Ernesto van Dal (Suriname) and Erik Ritfeld. It is an album full of international collaborations. It is also a CD of memorable duets. With one of her favorite singers / songwriters William Araujo she sings a special love song. Her three musical friends Laise Sanches (Adliscious), Sonia Andrade and Milena Tavares assist her in a song about women's strength. Girl Power! And finally she sings two duets with two special heavyweights of the Cape Verdean music scene. One with her musical hero and Cape Verdean music icon Boy Gé Mendes and another track with rising star Dino D'Santiago. This last song with a contribution from the very talented rapper Adison. About Melissa Fortes As a professional singer Melissa has been active for over eleven years. She has had the chance to work with various famous national and international artists. As their backing vocalist Melissa performed on stages all around the world. Melissa's music is a mix of warm Cape Verdean and Brazilian influences and a dash of jazz and neo soul. She loves World Music and is especially drawn to artists that aren't afraid to mix up traditional music with contemporary styles. In 2013 Melissa successfully released her singles ' Lullaby ' and ' Deixa a Chuva Passar '. The single releases were well received by major and regional media outlets in The Netherlands (Radio 1, Radio 6) and the Cape Verdean Islands.
