简介
Tommy Grooves is an artist based in Hong Kong and working on his latest debut album “Room Service,” set to release August 2012. It’s an album of Cantonese ballads that he’s poured his heart into with topics ranging from the ‘whys’ of life and personal tribulations expressed through emo feelings he has experienced. It’s a departure, or evolution from his grassroots hip- hop origins. Yet, still feels natural and real which Tommy Groove’s growing fan base can testify too. Grooves delivers a smooth and sultry voice that he’s been cultivating throughout the years. He’s an artist with much respect from peers and fans alike and has gained a loyal Internet following. The album “Room Service” was an organic process; what started out as a hip-hop mixtape became something more personal and honest. Tommy Grooves felt at the time, the underground hip-hop was going a bit stale. So, Grooves decided to flip it up and dig up musical influences from RnB like Brian McKnight, R. Kelly and latest influences like Drake and the Weekend. To produce he got Dough Boy, an upcoming Hong Kong producer who has produced albums for rapper KZ, 85up Crew and MC Jin. Executively produced by Ghost Style a rapper/producer for the Hong Kong super group 24Herbs. Dough Boy and Tommy Grooves began making slower bpm and emotional pieces that seemed to fit the sentiment of the times. Tommy Grooves aka Mista Tak, has orgins from the Hong Kong Hip Hop underground. He first started making music in 2001 with two crews; OS Family and Too Monkey. Too Monkey was a duo with his high school friend Arho Sunny. Together the performed many shows which included TVB and made an Internet video “Big Lemon Coke” in 2004 and went viral. Too Monkey were always keeping up with the current trends in Hip Hop. The “Room Service” project is an honest musical piece and from the heart of Tommy Grooves. Rare these days, in Cantonese, to have an artist tell it like it is in a commercial style. Sure to be an instant classic when it hits the streets.
