For Felix is: Dan Perea - Lead Vocals/Bass Jeff Krenn - Vocals/Guitar Whit Maull - Guitar Patrick Jolkovski - Drums Selling albums overseas, touring the country, watching the crowd dance and sing back your lyrics, living your dream.. This is the life of Bridgewater, New Jersey based band, For Felix. Currently a four piece rock/pop-punk band, For Felix started in 2002 with then drummer Jay Gelardi, bassist and vocalist Dan Perea, and guitarist Whit Maull. Perea, a New Jersey native, who then resided in California, spent much time writing and playing music with Gelardi and Maull during the holiday season in which he was in New Jersey visiting. With similar musical interests such as seriously pursuing a musical career and a great chemistry between the three, Gelardi convinced Perea to move back to New Jersey to start a band, For Felix. Together, the trio put together a home-recorded makeshift EP, “Still in Pieces.” Not long after, the band recorded their first full length “Everyone’s Got a Girlfriend” which was released in April 2003. To finalize the band’s line up, For Felix added another guitarist, Pete Petrocelli, who played his first show with the band in April 2003 at the annual three day music extravaganza known as Skate and Surf Festival in Asbury Park , New Jersey. With the For Felix line-up complete, the band ventured out into the world of touring twice across the Midwest with Minnesota band, The East Side Heroes. In May 2004, the band teamed up with producer John Naclario, who has worked with Brand New, Matchbook Romance, and etc, to record the new EP, “Rise Above.” In the meantime, the band continued to play more and more shows including the Flipside Festival in Alexandria, VA, the Indianapolis Music Fest, and tours with Detroit band, Forever the Way and ska legends, MU330. Then with the release of “Rise Above,” in November 2004, For Felix hopped on the "Punk The Clock" tour with My American Heart, Greeley Estates, Gym Class Heroes, and The Q. After the tour, the band sadly parted ways with Petrocelli and Gelardi who aspired to pursue other things in life. In January 2005, Patrick Jolkovski from Phoenix, AZ entered the mix and became the new drummer for For Felix. Then in July 2005, Jeff Krenn, former front man of Albany, NY band Third To None hopped on board to play guitar and lend his voice. Since the release of “Rise Above,” For Felix has revered in success, making appearances on several different tours, playing two sets at the 2005 Bamboozle Fest and lending tracks to various compilations such as “Punk The Clock” and Pure Volume/Drive Thru Records "Bands You Love, Have Heard Of, And Should Know", while continually selling CDs across America and internationally in Japan, Australia, France, England, Canada and many more countries. “Our goal is to get our music heard by as many people as we can,” says Jolkovski. “We’re playing music we love, and giving it our all. We’re not letting anything hold us back from doing this,” adds Maull. As a band, For Felix is making its mark and emerging into the music scene with their surefire drive, and brilliant musical ingenuity. “We want to be the band that you had a great time with your friends with--the band you are reminded of driving down the highway listening to the music or the band that you were with your friends at a show with and just had fun,” says Jolkovski. Maull adds, “If people can look back and say they came to a show and had a great time, or if our songs put a smile on someone’s face, or helped them through a hard time, that's all I could really ask for.”
