In the Wilderness captures the love between two people, Hosea and Gomer. Gomer's unfaithfulness and Hosea's relentless love for her represent the love of God for his people, Israel, when they worship other gods and leave the true God who delivered them into freedom. In the Wilderness intends to capture the raw emotion of Gomer in, "I Know Better" as she reflects on the pain she has inflicted upon the man who loves her, yet she finds herself unable to find freedom from the chains of adultery. "Patient" is the loving response of Hosea toward his wife in the midst of her sin. The album closes with "Evergreen" encompassing the steadfastness of the Lord in everything, as he offers growth, abundance, and redemption when we find ourselves in deserts and dry seasons of sin and suffering. God doesn't change. He doesn't waver or shift with the tides. He is steady. Constant. Evergreen.
