I never dreamed of making music. I never wanted to pursue it any further than being a fan, listener, and sometimes even a critic. I did however have a love, and skills for writing poetry. There is no specific reason for my love for writing, it just was. I first sang to a girl in the first grade, reaction would solidify, the effect of singing in my mind. My fascination with words play, and rhymes grew with each year of my childhood. Friends would sign me up for karaoke performance everyone would be out of their seats applauding. Over the years as more people were exposed to my singing, rapping, and performances. I began receiving more request. From elementary to high school. Wrote poems and songs on request. I was in the show choir my freshmen year, to let people know that I was't just all about sports. The very moment I heard the recorded performance of the valentines day song, I decided I would write music, but I knew I needed some practice. Brett and I wrote recorded, and released two club songs locally, the first of them would be a huge hit in our location. We only released it to our school, but soon other schools would hear of it, and request it. Everyone would ask me why I did'nt go solo. I loved making music so much that I gave up a college football scholarship, and dropped out of college when I met a sound engineer. Being ask how long had I made music, and his jaws dropped in his disbelief when I told him just a few months. In May of 2008, our studio equipment, and all our music was stolen or sold , and with nowhere to live, I called it quits. No solo songs,and others was nowhere to be found. With no scholarship,money, degree,home or car, I decided the only thing left was the military. I finally decided to go with Mili Mills, which began with my grandmother, Bernice Jenkins, she called me "Mili" since my birth, and it seems to be a common nickname for others to call me as well. My little brother was the first to call Mili "Mils" He always had to put his twist on something even when it was already twisted. It stuck, thats my name. The words of the song will tell you where I felt my postion was compared to those individuals that left me behind. The song would be the last track, I made before I left for basic training for the U. S. Air Force. Military life had a profound affect on my life, I got better and wanted to be taken serious.
