"Run The Night" is Third Rail's debut studio album, that has been in production for nearly four years. The album from the New York-based band features 10 original compositions from the songwriting team of Phil Stern and Joe Leone. The songs are a unique combination of the horn and keyboard oriented 1970's "Jersey Shore" rock, with the complex chord arrangements found in Broadway, Classical, and Jazz music. The idea to create a full length album was born after a collaboration during Leone and Stern's mid-high school years; and the long process of a couple of kids learning how to copyright, record, publish and distribute an album in the most professional manner began. All of the songs that made the final cut were recorded on a simple home studio setup; produced, arranged and mixed by Leone. The final product was sent out to be mastered by Andres Ricano at Otterhouse Studios. With limited musicians and a limited budget, the album was recorded by Leone playing and singing different instrument and vocal tracks himself, and layering them on top of Stern's piano and lead vocal tracks. Billy Bird and Stan Karwacki, newer members of the live lineup of the band, were brought in to provide backing vocals on the first song, "Watch Me Drown," and Bird's 12-string guitar playing on "Drivin' In The Rain." Special guest vocalist Nicole Cicero provided lead vocals on the duet, "You're Not There."
