The music of Future Tense represents the reunion of three musicians who cut their teeth on the avant-guard to mainstream and fusion scene of 1970's Chicago. Sessions with Fred Anderson, Malawi, Billy Brimfield and others helped mold an appreciation for free music, and yet their interest in the many diverse styles of jazz give them a breadth of scope that is evident here.

Eric Hochberg's resume includes performances, tours and recordings with the Paul Wertico Trio, The Lyle Mays Quartet, Kurt Elling, Terry Callier, Von Freeman and many others. Steve Eisen has been a forceful presence on the Chicago studio scene for most of his career, working with Ramsey Lewis, Johnny Winter, James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Chevere.

Andrew Scott Potter left Chicago early on, headed to New York and performed with Freddy Hubbard, John Scofield, Walter Bishop, Jr., Steve Grossman and many others. He moved to Brazil in 1986 where he continues on as a busy percussionist and producer.
