URIM 7 is unique Jamaican band that entered the music industry with an unique and diverse blend of gospel: reggae, R&B, jazz, and contemporary music. The band is a dynamic team of singers and musicians graduates of the Edna Manley School of Music, University of the West Indies (UWI) and University of Technology (UTECH) who have dedicated their lives to producing and promoting the gospel through music. URIM means 'lights' and the number '7' represent perfection. The band recently launched their debut album “The Assignment”, which features 15 exquisite tracks of gospel: reggae, pop, jazz and R&B, that is currently on daily rotation on local radio. URIM7 Band was declared in Washington, D. C. “Musical Ambassador of Caribbean American Heritage Month (CAHM) June 2015-2016, the First Gospel Band and the First Jamaican Band to be so named. As guest performers in Washington D.C. their soul thrilling performances of the American National Anthem, Negro Spiritual National Anthem and their original song, “Freedom Chant” were received with standing ovations at the White House, at the Caribbean-African Gala, Howard University, Congress on Capitol Hill and the Organization of American States (OAS). As the featured band in Hollywood, they performed at the Caribbean Heritage Organization (CHO) Film Festival and Awards Gala which opened with tributes to the works of Sir Sidney Poitier and Ms. Cecily Tyson. In their 2014 tour of South Florida, URIM7 ministered in a series of concerts that culminated with performances at Grace Jamaica Jerk Festival at Markham Park, Sunrise. The band was selected by the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) to perform at the Reggae Praise, Gospel Concert Ranny Williams Center. The group has also shone with performances at the Rainforest Seafood Family Fun day & Concert, Montego Bay and the Earth Hour Acoustic Concert, in Kingston. The band was one of the highlights at the 12th Annual Kite Festival Richmond, St. Ann Jamaica with amazing performances at the twin international gospel event with host Dr. Bobby Jones (BET) at the Praise on the Beach and Prayze Factor People’s Choice Award, Montego Bay, Jamaica. Most recently, the band continued to excel as the featured performers in this year’s Jamaica Independence 53 opening ceremony and broadcast live from Kings House, Jamaica. As Jamaicans continue to excel in music reflecting their native culture, artistes such as URIM7 group will join suit. In addition to representing their island home, they have the distinct honor and pleasure of also presenting music in a manner that brings joy, radiates light and with their distinct new sound.
