In 2008, songwriter Mark Despault wrote the song "We Will See You Through" as a homage to the heroic rescue attempts following the devastating 1917 explosion in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Recently songwriters Tom Leighton and Suzanne Pasternak wrote a bridge to the song and Tom also arranged this for choir and voice.

Every year somewhere in Nova Scotia a fifty foot Christmas tree is cut down and sent to Boston by the people of Nova Scotia as a thank you to that city for their immediate rescue mission sent out within hours of the explosion. In 2015 "We Will See You Through" was performed at the send off ceremony in Halifax by the renowned Nova Scotia Mass Choir and a children's 130 voice choir in Truro Nova Scotia as the tree passed through the city on the way to Boston. ABC Television aired the Nova Scotia Mass Choir's taped performance at the lighting of the tree in Boston to a crowd of over 30,000 and another 300,000 watching on TV. "We Will See You Through" is a powerful tribute to two countries who live in peace and friendship..Canada and the United States.
