Just about everyone either goes to “Rocky” as part of their weekend ritual or is a part of a shadowcast. I was introduced to “Rocky” in the safety of my home at a transitional age. It at once fascinated me and made me feel things not yet introduced into my life. From the amazing music, the wonderful characters, to the bizarre world in that mansion, I sat glued to my television over multiple viewings. I found it to be a brilliant piece of film-making. The message of “Don't Dream It, Be It” is one that I still hold dear to this day. I kept from seeing it at a midnight screening for years because I didn't want people shouting and poking fun at this masterpiece. When I finally went, I discovered a whole new dimension to the “Rocky Horror” universe. It's because of that experience I realized this film works on many levels. It resonates with people from all walks of life. After discovering how expansive the appeal was, I began to wonder if it was such an affluent presence in the Dark Alternative scene, why has no one done dark versions of these songs? Then I started to get intrigued by the possibilities. What would “Rocky” sound like filtered through this genre of people that it inspired in various aspects? The answer is this album . A collection of songs that range from campy to tender wrapped in a shroud of darkness. While nothing can compare to what Richard had wrought , this collection transports the tunes into a different realm. A realm that I hope you enjoy visiting.
