简介
Opus No. 1 is an experimental composition written by a young Tim Carleton at the age of 16. Late one night in the winter of 1989, the duo decided to record the song in Tim's garage. After several hours of recording, they had their new master tape. After many years of only existing in the personal music collections of Tim and Darrick, an opportunity presented itself to use Opus No. 1 as Hold Music for Cisco's new CallManager product. Darrick was working for Cisco and felt that the acoustic qualities of this original recording would lend itself to better playback clarity at the lower quality used for voice communications. After testing the recording with the unreleased Music on Hold feature, it was clear to everyone involved that Opus No. 1 should be the default hold music for Cisco CallManager. Over the last 15 years this track has received unprecedented exposure to listeners worldwide due to the leadership position Cisco has taken in Enterprise Voice as well as Call Centers. As a result of this exposure, This American Life told the story of one man's quest to identify this song after being placed on hold. If you were also searching for this song, your search is over.
